Education for Ministry

What is EFM?

Education for Ministry (EFM) is a four-year program of theological education by the extension of the School of Theology of the University of the South at Sewanee in Tennessee.  The program is designed for the laity of the church to provide participants with the basic knowledge of the Christian faith.  Every Christian is called to Christ’s ministry by Baptism.  Through study, theological reflection and worship, participants gain a fuller understanding of what it means to respond to God’s call and to make connections between Christian faith and daily life.  The curriculum includes study of the Old and New Testaments, church history, theology, ethics and contemporary issues.

The cost is $365 per year with scholarship assistance available from the Diocese.

St. Paul’s has previously conducted this course and several parishioners are graduates.  If you want to know more contact Parri Black, Marge Gianopoulos or Margaret Kimberling.  Money will be due by May 1st.  If scholarship assistance is needed, please talk to Marge Gianopoulos.  Marge also has additional information from The University of the South for you to take home and look over.
