Outreach/ Evangelism

OUTREACH/EVANGELISM

The mission of the Outreach/Evangelism Ministry is to provide financial support and volunteer effort to individuals and groups outside St. Paul’s parish.

A wonderful group of volunteers meets regularly to plan and discuss how St. Paul’s can actively follow Jesus Christ to ‘Love One Another’.  Funds are dispersed yearly to various community efforts such as Albion Bacon Fellows Center, a center for women who are abused, the Boys and Girls Club, Christian Education scholarship Program, and Grahn Community Center, to name just a few.

After the hurricanes went through the Gulf Coast in 2005, St. Paul’s began collecting goods, sorting and storing items that were needed by the victims of those storms.  On November 6th, 2005, a tornado ripped through the Evansville/Newburgh area affecting several of our parish members.  Our hurricane goods were immediately donated from the stored items.  The Episcopal Relief and Development Fund matched funds earmarked for tornado relief.

Soup Kitchen

St. Paul’s is host to the Co-operative Church Soup Kitchen Ministry, which meets each Saturday morning.  Area organizations and churches provide workers and meals to needy area residents.  St. Paul’s provides workers each month on the third Saturday and workers are always needed and welcomed.

Bread Ministry

Parishioners deliver bread to church visitors residing in the area with loaves of bread and a warm welcome to our community.

Meal Ministry

Meals are provided to parishioners who are experiencing illness, a new baby, or other occasions in their life where meals would be welcome.

Rag Doll Ministry

Dolls are sent to children who have suffered family losses.

River Barge Ministry

Women of the church, who knit, make hats and scarves for seaman working on barges.

Second Sunday

Food is collected on the second Sunday of each month to benefit those in need in our area.

Women of St. Paul’s

Women in the parish work to help provide funds, goods, and volunteers to community efforts such as Little Lambs, a program for young and at-risk mothers, Evansville Rescue Mission Adopt-A-Family program at Christmas, and the Evansville Boys & Girls Club.

Fall Festival

St. Paul’s also participates in the Evansville Nut Club Fall Festival by selling Jim’s Famous BBQ!  This is always a fun time of fellowship and another expression of outreach and evangelism.  Fall Festival profits help fund several non-profit community programs.  Santa Clothes Club, Boy Scouts, and the Evansville Rescue Mission are a few of the programs that have been supported.
